Paula Lobo Antunes’ recent role in the film “A Teacher’s Gift” is as memorable as her long career. Whether playing the villain in the soap opera “Flor do Mal” or as the protagonist in “Mar de Paixão”, Paula knows she made the right decision by choosing to be an actress instead of medicine.
Paula Lobo Antunes talks openly about everything, about her career, the roles that marked her and her family, remembering how her father, the great neurosurgeon João Lobo Antunes, operated on an HIV patient at a time when no one dared touch an infected person.
Throughout this conversation with Tony Gonçalves, Paula Lobo Antunes never fails to convey this feeling of not belonging, of hard work and a constant attempt to compete with herself. And hard work pays off.
Paula also points out a Portuguese trait that no other guest has brought to this podcast so far: The attitude of apologizing for everything, the “forgive me for existing” mentality so marked in our way of being. How does this affect the cultural identity of a small country like Portugal, which has so much talent?
