A new powerful 6.7 Richter earthquake occurred in , a few days after the 7.5 Richter earthquake that occurred in the region.
The earthquake, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Institute (EMSC), occurred 172 km east, northeast of the city of Aomori and had a focal depth of 20 km.
After the strong earthquake, a tsunami warning was issued by the Japan Meteorological and Seismological Agency (JMA), according to which waves of at least one meter are expected. Residents are asked to remain vigilant and follow safety measures.
