Vasco won an important and comeback victory in stoppage time over Fluminense this Thursday (11), in the first game of the Copa do Brasil semi-final. Vegetti scored the goal that sealed the 2-1 for Cruzmaltinos at Maracanã.
Fluminense took the lead in the first half, with Kevin Serna. In the final stage, Rayan equalized and kept the match open until, in the final minutes, the Argentine center forward decided the classic.
It was the fourth meeting between the rivals from Rio this season, and the balance prevails. Now there are two victories for each side. In the Brazilian Championship, there was a triumph for each team; in the state, the Laranjeiras team came out on top.
The fifth chapter of this duel will define the second finalist of the national tournament. Fernando Diniz’s team will have the advantage of a draw. Fluminense needs a simple victory to take the decision to penalties and a victory with more than two goals difference to advance directly.
The teams will face each other again on Sunday (14), again at Maracanã, at 8:30 pm (Brasília time), with Fluminense as the home team.
As he left the field, the hero of Vasco’s victory, who left the field upset last weekend, when he was substituted in the first half of the duel against Atlético Mineiro at the end of the Brazilian Championship, made an outburst.
“I’m a fighter. I fight a lot for this shirt. With my life and my heart. I always want to defend this shirt in the best way. I’m in a difficult moment, I’m not playing much. For me it’s always Vasco first”, he stated.
The Argentine had not scored since October 26, when he scored two goals in the victory over Red Bull Bragantino in the 30th round of the Nacional.
In the other semifinal, Corinthians took an advantage over Cruzeiro by winning 1-0 at Mineirão, in Belo Horizonte. Dutchman Memphis Depay scored the goal that guaranteed the black and white victory.
The reunion will also be on Sunday (14), in Itaquera, at 6pm (Brasília time). Corinthians plays for a draw to advance. If Cruzeiro wins by a goal difference, the place will be determined on penalties.
