São Paulo suspends municipal vehicle rotation until January 9

Release for cars begins this Monday (22) and only returns on the 12th, but restrictions on trucks and charters remain in force in the capital

São Paulo suspends municipal vehicle rotation until January 9

The municipal rotation of vehicles for cars in the city of will be suspended from this Monday (22) until January 9, 2026, due to the low flow of vehicles in the last days of December and the beginning of January, according to the Traffic Engineering Company (CET). The restriction comes into effect again on January 12, 2026, a Monday.

During the rotation, vehicles are prevented from circulating in the expanded center, including the roads that delimit the so-called mini-ring road, formed by the Marginais do Tietê and Pinheiros, Avenidas dos Bandeirantes and Afonso D’Escragnolle Taunay, Complexo Viário Maria Maluf, Avenidas Tancredo Neves and Juntas Provisórias, Viaduto Grande São Paulo and Avenidas Professor Luís Inácio de Anhaia Melo and Salim Farah Maluf.

The rotation of license plates for heavy vehicles (trucks) and other restrictions will continue to apply normally: Zone of Maximum Restriction on Truck Circulation (ZMRC) and the Zone of Maximum Restriction on Chartering (ZMRF).
