Tarcísio: Rodoanel was delayed due to incompetence, lack of planning and corruption

The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), once again justified the delay in the delivery of the northern section of the city with the argument of corruption and Lava Jato this Tuesday (23).

In a press conference after the delivery of Piscinão Jaboticabal in Greater ABC Paulista, Tarcísio stated that the Lava Jato investigations affected the Rodoanel and several other works, the target of successive allegations of corruption “widely reported by the press”, and that this context ended up causing delays in the execution of the projects.

“The mix of incompetence, lack of planning and corruption,” said the governor. “Corruption is the great evil that plagues Brazil, the great wound in Brazil, and which we fight with all our vigor.”

The head of the São Paulo Executive also stated that the resumption required a high degree of rework, as the abandonment of works generated the need for extensive recompositions, including the reconstruction of tunnels that had collapsed. According to him, the process represented a major geotechnical and engineering challenge, with interventions to guarantee the integrity of the structures, such as the execution of false tunnels.

Tarcísio guaranteed that the second section will be delivered in the second half of 2026.

At the inauguration held on Monday, the 22nd, the head of the São Paulo Executive exchanged barbs during a speech with the president of the National Development Bank (BNDES), Aloizio Mercadante, who was booed by Tarcísio’s supporters. In his speech, the governor praised former president Jair Bolsonaro and recalled his participation as Minister of Infrastructure.
