João Cotrim Figueiredo considers that the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister have a duty to address a Christmas message to the Portuguese, stressing that this moment should be used to convey tranquility and confidence, and not to launch political messages.
O expressed the expectation that the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, will take advantage of the Christmas message to reinforce hope in the country.
In your opinion, these public interventions should not serve as a stage for major announcements or political hints, but rather to reassure the population in the face of the changes that are coming.
“These messages should not be the stage for big declarations or big indirections. They should be, above all, moments to reassure people regarding the fears they may have in relation to the changes that are coming and to give them confidence, reminding them that they have much more capacity to overcome problems than they sometimes think”, he stated.
