Taipei/Hsinchu – A severe earthquake occurred off the coast of Taiwan. The earthquake, around 30 kilometers east of Yilan County, was recorded with a magnitude of 7.0, the Taiwan Meteorological Agency said. It occurred around 11 p.m. (local time) at a depth of over 72 kilometers. The quake with a magnitude of four 4.0 was felt in the north and east of Taiwan. The earth also shook in larger cities such as Taipei and Hsinchu.
