Iran is in the midst of the latest wave of protests, the largest in years. The demonstrations that started from a shopping center in central Tehran on Saturday and saw traders close their shops spread faster than expected to other parts of the capital and then the entire country. US President Donald Trump has now also intervened with the threat that the US would defend the demonstrators in the event of violent action.
