The Ministry warns Slovaks: Do not travel here under any circumstances! In addition, the neighboring country closed its borders

Colombia closed the land border with Venezuela on Saturday (January 3). This is a consequence of the armed intervention of the United States of America in Venezuela and concerns about the possible mass emigration of Venezuelans. The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MFA) of the Slovak Republic informed about this in the framework of travel recommendations.

“The Colombian government has deployed armed forces along the entire 2,000-kilometer border with Venezuela,” the Department of Diplomacy said. He issued a second-level travel advisory for Colombia, which means that Slovaks should consider the necessity of traveling to this country.

At the same time, the MZVEZ issued a level four travel advisory for Venezuela on Saturday. It advises Slovak citizens not to travel to Venezuela under any circumstances, and advises those staying there to leave the country as soon as possible.

American President Donald Trump announced on Saturday morning that the United States had carried out a large-scale attack against Venezuela. On Saturday morning, the United States detained Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and flew him from Venezuela to New York, where he will appear in federal court. The defendant is accused of several crimes, including drug smuggling or possession of weapons.
