Thousands of people are demonstrating this Saturday in the capital of Greenland against US President Donald Trump’s plan to annex the territory to the United States.
Under the motto “Stop Trump”, protesters reaffirm that they do not intend to belong to the United States and defend Greenland’s right to decide its own future.
According to Emanuel Nunes, a SIC journalist present at the scene, these are “unprecedented” protests, taking place near the United States Consulate in Nuuk.
According to the journalist, several political leaders are present, including the Prime Minister of Greenland and several members of the Government.
The demonstration takes place peacefully, but with a strong popular mobilizationreflecting the population’s discontent.
