The Popular Unity Party announced, this Sunday, February 1st, Samara Martins as a pre-candidate to run for Palácio do Planalto in the 2026 elections.
The party chose to launch its own name in this year’s dispute as part of the strategy to expand UP’s national presence in the next elections. In a post on Instagram, the party highlights that Samara’s candidacy represents “a program of struggle for socialism in the face of the deep crisis of capitalism” to strengthen popular struggles in favor of workers.
At 36 years old, Samara Martins is a dentist with the SUS (Unified Health System) and national vice-president of the party. She is also active in the Olga Benário Women’s Movement and the Revolutionary Black Front.

In a publication on the networks, Samara highlights that her candidacy has an anti-imperialist character and represents “a project for a fair, egalitarian country, where all workers earn for what they produce”.
The UP also announced that it intends to announce, in the coming months, pre-candidacies for legislative positions at the state and federal level, in addition to candidacies for the state government.
