In Europe, the week’s data calendar is scarce after the decision of the European Central Bank (ECB) to maintain key rates, as expected, and the entity’s president, Christine Lagarde, having reiterated that monetary policy is in a good position, with risks broadly balanced, meaning that a change in rates is not expected soon.
Markets are discounting a reduction in policy rates of 25 basis points next July, although they see an anticipated reduction in June as likely.
