“We consider it deplorable that some established paleontological organizations are not taking firm action”, reads the statement from the paleontology convention, which justifies the decision with the “safety of participants”.
The , a UK-based paleontology convention, has issued a statement regarding the scientists, authors and researchers named in the Epstein Filesindicating that those associated with the late sex offender have been officially banned from the annual event.
Although the convention did not name the individuals directly, Monday’s announcement makes clear that DinoCon “would not tolerate your presence” at the July event. “We at DinoCon take the safety of our participantsspeakers and staff”, says the statement.
According to ZAP, the only paleontologist whose name has so far been publicly identified in the Epstein Files is that of the renowned North American paleontologist Jack Hornerwhich served as inspiration for the character Alan Grant in Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park”.
“Following the publication of half of the Epstein Filesit became public that a restricted number of scientists, authors and researchers relevant in the field of paleontology allegedly maintained correspondence with members of the Epstein organization following the convictions of Jeffrey Epstein”, details the statement, published on X. “We wish to declare that all respective individuals are banned from all our events.”
“Additionally, we consider it deplorable that some organizations established paleontological are not taking firm action to protect its members in light of these accusations”, adds the DinoCon note.
“As such, the members of the executive committee of organizations who are not issuing public bans to these individuals are also banned of our events”, concludes the statement.
According to the dinosaur-themed convention website, DinoCon aims to combine “the world of paleontology, paleoart, natural history and paleontological news to celebrate all things prehistoric. This year’s edition takes place on the 25th and 26th of July, at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
DinoCon’s statement follows the US Department of Justice’s release of 3 million pages of the Epstein Files at the end of January. Several high-profile figures were named in the released documents, including Elon Musk e Bill Gatesthe , and according to the magazine , nearly 30 prominent scientists.
