Nuclear crisis on the table: Trump and Netanyahu push for continuation of negotiations with Iran

During Wednesday’s meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US President Donald Trump insisted that nuclear negotiations with Iran must continue. TASR informs about it according to AP and AFP reports.

“We haven’t achieved anything definitive, except that I insisted that negotiations with Iran continue to see whether or not a deal can be done,” wrote Trump on his own social network Truth Social after more than two hours of negotiations. He described the meeting with Netanyahu as “very good” and confirmed the continued “tremendous relationship” between the two countries.

Trump wrote that he prefers to make a deal with Iran. However, if this does not work, “we’ll see what the result is”. He recalled that the last time it ended was Operation Midnight Hammer – an American attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. “Let’s hope they will be more reasonable and responsible this time. In addition, we discussed the tremendous progress that has been made in Gaza and in the region in general. There really is PEACE in the Middle East,” Trump added.

At the meeting, Netanyahu insisted on “the security needs of the State of Israel in connection with the negotiations,” according to his office. The leaders are said to have agreed on further coordination of steps. The Israeli prime minister’s office said earlier that Netanyahu wanted talks with Iran to include curbs on its ballistic missile program and support for militant groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah. Trump has met with Netanyahu for the seventh time since re-entering the White House.
