Centrão blackmailed a TCU minister to end the liquidation of Master, says Renan

The president of the Senate’s Economic Affairs Committee (CAE), Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL), stated this Wednesday (11), that the working group that supervises investigations into Master will request cell phone data from the bank’s owner, Daniel Vorcaro. The senator also defended that the working group begin the testimonies by listening to the banker, but that no date has yet been set.

“For the commission’s work to be productive, I defended this publicly, I think we should start the testimony phases by listening to Vorcaro,” said Calheiros, after meeting with the president of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Edson Fachin.

According to Calheiros, during the conversation, he reaffirmed the request for access to investigations into the Master case. “We will request all information from the investigations, because there are several investigations, so that we can, with authority, collaborate in holding these people accountable, but fundamentally improve legislation, regulation and supervision itself”, he said.

Centrão blackmailed a TCU minister to end the liquidation of Master, says Renan

The senator said that he discussed, at the meeting, the conversations he had with the president of the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU), Vital do Rêgo, who was supposedly a politician to interrupt the body’s measures against the Master.

“I told Minister Fachin about the embarrassing atmosphere at the Federal Court of Auditors. I was there, I spoke in detail with President Vital do Rêgo. Centrão blackmailed a minister of the Court of Auditors so that he could put an end to the liquidation (of Master, carried out by the Central Bank)”, he continued.

The senator also stated that the working group will do its “possible” to clarify the case, but that the activities cannot be confused with those of a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI). “We don’t have a police role, but we can play a role in the investigation”, he said.
