In skeleton, the pilots throw themselves headfirst onto their sled. In the Olympic ice track in Cortina they reach speeds of almost 130 kilometers per hour, which sounds like a hell of a ride to laypeople. “Every time I feel a certain nervousness,” says Florian Auer. “You need that to be focused.”
