Slovakia is expecting a fundamental change in the weather in the coming days, writes a specialized website. While Saturday will still bring spring temperatures in several places, which will climb up to +10 °C in the south, Sunday will bring a sharp drop in temperature. Meteorologists warn of a temperature difference between 6 and 11 degrees Celsius compared to the previous day. This jump will be noticeable especially in the west of the country, where it will be necessary to change temporary clothes for winter jackets and coats.
Behind this change is the arrival of a cold front, which will end the current warming. Cold air will begin to penetrate our territory already at night from Saturday to Sunday, which will cause a change in precipitation. The original rain will gradually change from the northwest to snow, which will affect the entire territory, including the lowlands. On Sunday, we have to expect not only significantly lower temperatures, but also the formation of a snow cover in places, which can complicate the situation on the roads.
The beginning of the new week will be marked by the return of true winter. The cooling will continue during the night from Sunday to Monday, with all-day frost expected in most of the territory, with the exception of the southernmost districts. Night temperatures can drop to double-digit minus values in mountainous areas. After a pleasant Saturday afternoon, frosty weather will set in, which will last at least at the beginning of the week.
In addition to low temperatures, residents must also prepare for another snowfall. Snowfall, which will start on Sunday night, should be intense in some places and will affect even the lowest locations and western Slovakia. The return of the winter character of the weather is so definitive and drivers should be prepared for worse conditions.
