Recent transformations in the job market and society require a reduction in working hours in Brazil, and companies that have already adopted reduced working hours are managing to attract more candidates for their vacancies.
The analysis was carried out by economist and professor at FGV (Fundação Getulio Vargas Carla Beni during participation in the program WW Special – Who will pay the bill with the end of the 6×1 scale?which airs this Sunday (15), at 10pm (Brasília time).
The economist cited the supermarket sector. “They ask you: ‘Am I going to have to work on Sunday? I don’t want to work on Sunday'”, he exemplified, mentioning cases of chains that were unable to meet expansion targets due to a lack of labor willing to accept traditional schedules.
Beni argued that, just as Brazil has already absorbed the increase in the real minimum wage since 1988 without causing damage to the economy, the reduction in working hours could also be absorbed by the market.
The economist also noted that several segments are already implementing changes in work schedules, regardless of legislative discussions, simply because the job market is demanding this adaptation.
