The councilor of Balneário Camboriú Jair Renan Bolsonarofourth son of the former president Jair Bolsonarovisited his father this Saturday (14) at the Papudinha Penitentiary, a unit located in Complexo da Papuda, in Brasília.

Bolsonaro is serving a sentence of 27 years and 3 months in prison for his involvement in the so-called coup plot. The sentence began to be carried out in January 2026.
In a post on social media, Jair Renan stated that he took advantage of the visit to take books to his father and talked about the current political scenario. “Today I visited my father, who has been unjustly imprisoned for more than six months. Seeing his strength up close is impressive […] I took him some books and we talked a lot about what’s going on,” he wrote.
In testimony to experts from Federal PoliceBolsonaro declared that he maintains the habit of daily reading. The practice can contribute to the remission of a sentence, as provided for by Brazilian legislation. In January, the former president’s defense asked the Supremo Tribunal Federal authorization for him to formally participate in the sentence reduction program through reading.
The councilor did not say which works were delivered to the father during the visit. In his post, he also stated that the former president continues to have “accurate acumen” and projects the future “with lucidity”, despite the conviction.
