This Sunday (15), the samba school opens the Special Group parades with a plot in honor of President Luiz Inácio da Silva (PT). It is the club’s debut in the elite.
The tribute to the PT member provoked controversy in recent days due to the election year. Lula is expected to run for re-election in 2026.
He went to the sambadrome to watch the parade in a box. Before the presentation, which started at around 10:20 pm, the president waved to people who were nearby.
The plot “From the top of mulungu comes hope: Lula, the worker of Brazil” exalts the president’s trajectory, complete with the war cry “hello, olê, hello, Lula! Lula!”.
The greeting was heard in part of Sector 1, the most popular in Sapucaí. In the stands, people held flags with the PT member’s face and name. A fan held up a sign with the inscription: “I’m the daughter of a poor man and a doctor.”
Artists, figures associated with the left, councilors and state deputies linked to the PT in Rio parade in a guest section of the school. One of the names found by the report is former minister Márcio Macêdo (General Secretariat of the Presidency).

The tribute to the PT member became the target of questions from opposition parties, who took legal action under the argument of early electoral propaganda.

THE NITERÓI SCHOOL
Acadêmicos de Niterói debuted in 2023 in the access group just below the Special, the Ouro Series. The school acquired the parade rights from Acadêmicos do Sossego, also from Niterói.
Sossego gave up the rights to parade in 2023, which made it possible for Niterói to debut with another CNPJ. In practice, the first ceased to exist for the second to be created: the colors (blue and white), the symbol (lyre), the Carnival direction and most of the components are the same.
The current president of Niterói, Wallace Palhares, is a former president of Liga RJ, the entity that organizes the Ouro Series, with a plot about the festival of São João de Maracanaú, in Ceará. The current president of the League, in turn, is a former director of the Niteroi school.
