One in three people in Austria never or only rarely drives a car

Vienna/Austria – “Car fasting” is not only practiced during Lent in Austria. 34 percent of people aged 16 and over living in Austria never or only rarely drive a car. In Vienna it is even 63 percent, as a current analysis by the Austrian Transport Club (VCÖ) shows based on data from Statistics Austria. What is striking is that outside of Vienna, significantly less cars are driven in the western federal states than in the eastern federal states.
