Ján Lašák in Milan couldn’t believe his eyes: Coffee cheaper than in Zvolen!

A combination of poor harvests, rising transportation costs and global inflation is pushing coffee prices up faster than many people imagined. The usual morning coffee, which was a matter of course until recently, is thus turning into a luxury for some of them. A Facebook account drew attention to the observation of a well-known Slovak athlete, which relates to this topic.

The increase in raw material prices is gradually passed on to final consumers, who pay more for packaged coffee in shops and for drinks in cafes. Large companies have already adjusted their prices to compensate for higher costs. Experts warn that if unfavorable conditions persist, prices may remain elevated in the coming years. For consumers, this means not only more expensive morning coffee, but also a wider impact on family budgets, as coffee is one of the regularly purchased commodities.

Former hockey goalkeeper and now coach Ján Lašák (46) notices the prices of coffee at home and abroad.who is with the Slovak selection at the Olympic Games in Milan. Shortly after arriving at the scene, he posted a story on his Instagram account where evaluated that coffee is cheaper in the Italian city than in Zvolen, writes a blog about coffee. A number of people responded to his observation and agreed with him. “Yes, a quality presso in a cafe in the center of an Italian city, anywhere, it doesn’t matter, 1.20 euros, and in Slovakia from a machine at a station or in a hospital, 1.30 euros,” written by Tomáš. “Not only coffee. Accommodation, ski pass, restaurants, food. The only thing more expensive is beer,” Matej joined. “Good everywhere, most expensive at home,” Juraj added.
