René Benko has achieved a legal victory. The Administrative Court (VwGH) has decided that the imposition of a penalty for failing to testify before the parliamentary Cofag investigation committee would be inadmissible. The Federal Administrative Court decided on a corresponding application in July 2024, requiring the insolvent Signa founder to pay 700 euros. Wrongfully so, as has now been legally decided. The federal government must reimburse Benko for his expenses amounting to 1,346.40 euros within two weeks.
