Two years after the cancellation of three shows on Taylor Swift’s tour in Vienna, the Austrian Public Prosecutor’s Office filed a formal complaint against a 21-year-old man accused of planning an attack during the performances. The information was published by the British newspaper The Guardian.
The presentations were scheduled for August 2024 in the Austrian capital, but were suspended after authorities identified signs of a threat. The suspect was arrested that same month and has been detained ever since.
According to prosecutors, the young man had expressed support for the extremist group Islamic State and disseminated propaganda content through messaging applications.

The prosecution maintains that he sought online guidance on how to make an explosive device. If convicted, he could face a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
The investigation also reached another person involved. A Syrian teenager, aged 16 at the time, was tried in Germany and sentenced, in 2025, to 18 months in detention for collaborating with the plan. The case was processed in Berlin.
American authorities participated in the investigation. The United States intelligence service contributed information that led to the cancellation of the performances.
