Value is 10% higher than 2025; the result is the best volume for February since the beginning of the historical series, in 2011
The Ministry of Tourism announced this Wednesday (18) that the 2026 carnival should move R$ 18.6 billion no country, value 10% higher than in 2025. The calculation is made by the department based on data from the National Confederation of Commerce in Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC) and FecomercioSP.
“We are celebrating one of the biggest and best carnivals in history, with record expectations of revelers and financial movement, which shows how much tourism contributes to Brazil’s economic and social growth”, said the Minister of Tourism, Gustavo Feliciano.
Still according to the ministry, the result is the best volume for the month of February since the beginning of the historical series, which began in 2011. The estimate is that more than 65 million people participated in the party in Brazil, 22% increase compared to the same period last year.
There were 32 million people gathered in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), São Paulo (SP), Recife (PE), Olinda (PE) and Salvador (BA) alone.

Rio de Janeiro had 8 million revelers, with an impact of approximately R$5.7 billion and hotel occupancy reaching almost maximum capacity, at 98%.
In the Northeast, the Recife/Olinda hub brought together more than 7.6 million revelers, with a financial turnover of R$3.2 billion, and the State projects a 49% growth in the flow of international tourists.
In Salvador, more than 8 million people enjoyed the festivities and generated R$2 billion in the economy.
