A pedestrian died on Jantárova street in Košice on Friday night. The driver fled the scene of the accident. Lenka Ivanová, the regional police spokeswoman from Košice, informed about it, saying that the accident happened shortly before 01:00.
“According to the findings so far, the driver, who has not yet been identified, was driving in the direction from Pri Bitunku street to Požiarnicka street, probably in the right lane, so far unidentified vehicle involved in a collision with a 45-year-old pedestrian. The pedestrian was left lying on the right side of the road after the impact, but the driver did not fulfill the obligations of a participant in a traffic accident and left the scene without providing first aid or reporting the incident. said the spokeswoman. The injuries that the pedestrian suffered in the collision were incompatible with life and he died on the spot.
Whether the poor pedestrian was under the influence of alcohol or other addictive substances will be determined after the ordered autopsy. During the documentation of the traffic accident, also with the participation of an expert from the road transport department, the section of the road was closed for the necessary time. The case was taken over by the investigator of the criminal police department of the District Directorate of the Police Force in Košice, who started criminal prosecution for the crime of murder.
