After stating that monitoring authorities and their relatives has become a risky activity for employees, the president of Unafisco Nacional was, this Friday (20), investigated as part of the so-called fake news inquiry, according to the entity.
In a statement released after the testimony, the association that represents IRS tax auditors stated that Kleber Cabral was summoned only because of the after.
The statement was made by order of minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the (Supreme Federal Court), whose actions were criticized by the president of Unafisco.
The president of Unafisco gave testimony remotely. “As informed by the police authority, the procedure is being carried out under secrecy, which is why the president of the entity will not be able to comment on the content of the statement at this time.”
In an interview with Sheet on Thursday (19), Cabral said that “if you ask the IRS if anyone wants to inspect organized crime, half a dozen will appear”, but if you go to inspect politically exposed people, “no one will appear”.
The entity’s president recalled a 2018/2019 Revenue inspection that was suspended by decision of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, also within the fake news investigation. At the time, auditors would have accessed data from relatives of ministers Dias Toffoli and Gilmar Mendes in the midst of fine-grained work on several people. Two servers were removed, accused of leaks, which was not confirmed.
Regarding the current situation, he said on Thursday that the investigation carried out by the IRS at Moraes’ request only showed that there were attacks. At least in one of the cases, only registration data. “And the person has already been imposed a final sentence, with an electronic ankle monitor, as if they had already been convicted. I am criticizing this lack of proportionality, of reasonableness.”
In a note, another entity, Sindifisco Nacional, says it finds the subpoena to provide clarification to the Federal Police strange.
“If the member has been summoned due to his statements, as president of the Unafisco Association, to the press about the STF’s actions, we consider that this initiative is unacceptable as it violates the right, provided for in the Federal Constitution, to freedom of opinion”, says the entity.
The PF is also investigating whether there is a connection between one of the servers accused of accessing data from STF ministers and Ricardo Pereira Feitosa, who was head of Revenue intelligence at the beginning of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government. The relationship between Feitosa and the president of Unafisco will also be investigated.
