O Brazil ea India signed an agreement on critical minerals e rare earths. The announcement was made this Saturday (21), during the agenda of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
In the signatures made this Saturday, there is the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Mines of the Government of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Mines and Energy of the Federative Republic of Brazil on cooperation in the field of rare earth elements and critical minerals.
“Increasing investments and cooperation in renewable energy and critical minerals is at the heart of the pioneering agreement we signed today,” said Lula.
The raw material has been a topic of wide international prominencesince it is considered strategic and used in the development of various technologies. Some items such as electric vehicles, smartphones, solar panels and even aircraft engines require this type of element in their production.
In this scenario, Brazil appears to be relevant among the players international, given that the country has the second largest reserves of these resources in the world, second only to China.
Indian interest in the agreement is precisely to reduce Chinese dependence for this type of ore.
President Lula has been fulfilling a series of agendas in Asia since Wednesday (18). The president travels to South Korea on Sunday (22).
