National president of , former minister Carlos Lupi says that his party may support the candidacy for re-election of the governor of Pernambuco, (PSD), to guarantee a place in the Senate race.
The PDT is in advanced talks to join former federal deputy Marília Arraes, currently in Solidariedade, so that she can run for senator.
Plan A, according to Lupi, is for her to double up with Senator Humberto Costa (PT), candidate for re-election, on the ticket that will possibly have the mayor of Recife, João Campos (PSB), in the race for state government.
But, as the PED chief says, the scenario for the Senate in the state is complex, with a profusion of pre-candidates, and there is a fear that Marília will not get the position.
“If she is coming to the party to run for the Senate, I need a composition that guarantees this, if necessary. It is not the favorite hypothesis, but it could happen”, says Lupi.
Campos and Lyra are expected to polarize the election in the state, both supporting President Lula. The mayor, who needs to resign by the beginning of April, has been leading the polls,
