Prosecutor’s Office stated that the former president is capable of treatment at Papudinha and does not need hospital care
A (Attorney General’s Office) spoke out, this Friday (20.Feb.2026), against the request for house arrest for the former president (PL). The document highlights that Moraes had previously denied requests for house arrest for the former president, taking into account “the seriousness of specific acts aimed at escape and the repeated non-compliance with precautionary measures” by Bolsonaro.
The text was released after the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) requested a statement from the PGR, following the defense of the former head of the Executive, on the 4thª fair (Feb 11), house arrest on a humanitarian basis. Read the demonstration (PDF, 229 KB).
The PGR’s statement, signed by Attorney General Paulo Gonet, highlights that the last carried out by (Federal Police) “was categorical in concluding that the comorbidities presented do not require assistance at the hospital level, ensuring the viability of treatment in the current place of detention”.
The report in question was published on February 6 and declared that, despite the comorbidities presented by Bolsonaro, the transfer would not be necessary and could be kept in the Custody Center of the Military Police of the Federal District, known as Papudinha.
Bolsonaro was to Papudinha on January 15th by decision of Moraes.
According to the text, the battalion offers 24-hour medical care and an advanced SAMU (Mobile Emergency Care Service) unit. Therefore, the STF’s understanding remains the same regarding the former president’s arrest. The PGR emphasizes that the STF reserves house arrest only “in cases where essential medical treatment cannot be offered in the custody unit”which would not be the case with Jair Bolsonaro.
