The last 48 hours were marked by high rates of storms, especially Peruíbe, with 271 mm, and Ubatuba, with 235 mm
The Civil Defense of São Paulo installed, this Monday (23), a crisis office to monitor and respond to the impacts of intense rains that hit the coast of São Paulo. The storm warning has been extended and remains valid for the entire region throughout the day.
In the last 48 hours, high rainfall accumulations were recorded, particularly in Peruíbe (271 millimeters) and Ubatuba (235 millimeters). The large volume of water increases the risk of landslides, barrier falls e flooding. The agency reported that, because of this, state and municipal teams are still on the streets carrying out preventive inspections and providing guidance to residents of the most vulnerable areas.
Access roads to the coastal region blocked:
Mogi-Bertioga (SP-098): Totally closed at kilometers 77 (Mogi das Cruzes) and 98 (Bertioga), with no expected release date. The recommended alternative route is the Anchieta/Imigrantes System;
Tamoios Highway (SP-099): Partial closure on the Serra Antiga section. Traffic must occur through Serra Nova (tunnels) on the train system;
Oswaldo Cruz (SP-125): Totally blocked at kilometer 81, in Ubatuba, due to a landslide. There is no release date;
Affected cities
In Natividade da Serra, the search for a resident who disappeared after a landslide hit a house on Sunday (22) was resumed this Monday morning. The operation, conducted by the Fire Department and Civil Defense, had been suspended overnight for security reasons, the agency said.
In Ubatuba, the Camburi neighborhood, in the north zone, is the most affected place so far, although there were no injuries. Given the persistence of rain, the city received a severe alert via cell phone about the need to stay in safe places. In Peruíbe, the rains intensified again, and monitoring was reinforced.
According to Civil Defense, the guidance is for the population to avoid risk areas, not to travel on closed roads and to continue following official alerts issued through state government channels.
