According to the confederation’s projection, the impacts will be felt most strongly in the construction industry
The National Confederation of Industry (CNI) releasedthis Monday (23), which the cost of reducing working hours up to 40 hours could be from R$178.2 billion to R$267.2 billion per year. This would mean a 7% impact on payroll. The projection considered two scenarios: compensating for the reduction with overtime or with new hires.
According to the CNI projection, theThe impacts will be felt most strongly in the construction industry.oe in micro and small industrial companies.
Of a total of 32 industrial sectors, 21 would show an increase in costs above the industry average, regardless of the strategy adopted by the company to maintain the current number of production hours.
Examples of impacts by economic sectors:
– Manufacturing industry: from 7.7% to 11.6%;
– Construction industry: from 8.8% to 13.2%;
– Commerce: between 8.8% and 12.7%;
– Agriculture: 7.7% and 13.5%.
According to the entity, hiThe immediate impact of the proposal would be an increase of approximately 10% in the hourly rate regular work for those with a 40-hour contract. If the hours were not replaced, according to the CNI, there would be a reduction in economic activity.
“These data, combined with the analyzes we are carrying out on the topic, show that it is most likely that production will be reduced and the unit cost of labor will increase, bringing cost pressure and loss of competitiveness for national companies. This dynamic causes a drop in production, employment and income and, consequently, in Brazilian GDP”, warns the president of the CNI, Ricardo Alban.
The CNI also estimates that theThe most affected sectors would be micro and small companies. Businesses with up to nine employees, for example, would see an increase of R$4.5 billion to R$6.8 billion, representing an 8.7% to 13% increase in personnel expenses.
In companies with more than 250 employees, the impacts vary from R$27.5 billion to R$41.4 billion, depending on the scenarios mentioned. In percentage terms, the increase would be 6.6% to 9.8% in this case.
