Trump renews attack on US Supreme Court and promises other tariffs

WASHINGTON, Feb 23 (Reuters) – President Donald Trump renewed his condemnation of the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday after the court ruled against his sweeping trade tariff program last week, promising to resort to other powers and the use of licenses, but without giving details.

“The court also approved all the other tariffs, of which there are many, and all of them can be used in much more powerful and unpleasant ways, with legal certainty, than the tariffs initially used,” he wrote in a social media post.

Trump said Saturday he would raise a temporary tariff from 10% to 15% on U.S. imports from all countries, the maximum level allowed under law, a day after the Supreme Court ruled that Trump had exceeded his presidential authority by imposing a series of higher tariff rates under an emergency economic law.
