As part of the Brandy and Honey Fair, which takes place on March 14th, Cortelha, in the interior of the municipality of Loulé, will once again host a Walking Tour which, in this edition, includes visits to several medronho brandy distilleries from Serra do Caldeirão.
At this time of year, producers experience intense days of work with the traditional “boilers” used to distill medronho. After harvesting the fruit, which took place in November, now is the time to produce and taste the genuine and appreciated Aguardente de Medronho.
Rural heritage and mountain flavors highlighted
With the aim of enhancing this product and other treasures of Serra do Caldeirão, the Feira da Aguardente e Mel includes the walking tour as one of its main initiatives. The route, measuring around 11 kilometers, is scheduled to leave at 9am, allowing participants to visit local producers and get to know the distillation process up close. Registration can be done at .

Along the route, walkers will be able to enjoy the mountain landscapes and observe elements of the rural heritage and subsistence activities of the parish of Salir. At the end, participants will be treated to a mountain lunch at the fair grounds.
The organization provides permanent support, with the distribution of water, fruit and cakes. After lunch, visitors will be able to meet producers and artisans present at the event and watch moments of traditional music on the event stage.
The initiative is promoted by the Associação dos Amigos da Cortelha, with the support of the Loulé City Council and the Salir Parish Council.
