Volodymyr Zelenskyy refuses to pay the price of a ceasefire demanded by Putin, which involves the withdrawal of strategic territories that Russia has failed to capture.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told the BBC that Russian President Vladimir Putin started “World War III” by advocating military and economic pressure to force Russia to withdraw forces from Ukraine.
“I think Putin has already started (the “Third World War”). The question is how much territory he will be able to conquer and how to stop it (…). Russia wants to impose a different way of life on the world and change the life that people have chosen,” Zelensky said in released today.
Sunday marked four years since the start of Russia’s large-scale military campaign against all Ukrainian territory, which ends on Tuesday.
In 2014, Russia had already invaded Ukraine, annexing the Crimean Peninsula.
The Ukrainian President said in the same interview that he refuses to pay the price of a ceasefire demanded by Putin, which involves the withdrawal of strategic territories that Russia was unable to capture.
Zelensky once again rejected Russia’s demand that Ukraine hand over 20% of the eastern Donetsk region, as well as territories in the southern regions of Kherson and Zaporizhia.
He insisted that Russia initiated and reinforced that “stopping” Putin is a victory for the entire world.
