The women’s Corinthians, champion of the Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian Championship, will be led by former Brazilian national team coach, Emily Lima, the club announced on Tuesday (24).
Emily, 45 years old, is the first woman to lead the black and white women’s team, the strongest club in South America, with six Libertadores titles, the last three won consecutively.
“It’s a very prestigious and respected shirt worldwide. For me, who has been involved with women’s football for many years, this moment represents something great,” said the coach in a statement.
The coach takes over from Lucas Piccinato, who was fired on Saturday (21).
Born in São Paulo, she played for the Portuguese national team during her playing career.
She also led the Brazilian women’s team between 2016 and 2017 and led the Ecuador and Peru teams.
His professional experience also includes playing for Levante, in Spain.
