The Sagrada Familia, in Barcelona, finally reached its maximum height of 172.5 meters, 144 years after construction began, with the placement of the cross at the top of the tower of Jesus Christ.
The cross, 17 meters high, completes the central tower of the temple designed by Antoni Gaudí in the 19th century, officially making the basilica the tallest church in the world, surpassing Ulmer Münster, in Germany.
Clad in glass and white glazed ceramics, the structure was installed with a large crane and marks a new decisive phase in the work.
Despite the historical progress, the total completion of the monument remains without a defined date, depending on the financing generated by tourism and the resolution of urban conflicts linked to the future facade of Glória.
