The former president of the United States, and the former Secretary of State, will appear before the House Oversight Committee as part of its investigation into the influence and crime network run by the deceased sex offender. Today is the appointment for her; tomorrow, for him.
The double declaration of marriage is scheduled to be held in Chappaqua, New York, where the Clintons reside, so as not to travel to Washington, the epicenter of the investigations. When? As? Because?
The remarks will be held near the Clintons’ Chappaqua home, rather than at the Washington Capitol. Hillary is scheduled to testify today, Thursday, February 26, followed by Bill tomorrow, Friday, February 27.
Congressional statements are usually scheduled during normal business hours, often between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. (local time, six hours longer in Madrid), but the committee has not publicly confirmed the times of this specific appearance, precisely to keep it safe from further exposure. Previously, they had been ordered to appear at 10:00 a.m. for prior summons. It is not known if the formula will be repeated.
The agreement to testify comes after months of tense exchanges between the Clintons and Rep. Comer. The statement by the former president, in office between 1993 and 2001, was initially requested for October last year and was later rescheduled for December. He then refused to appear, claiming that he had to attend a funeral. A subsequent summons set a new date for January 13, 2026, but he did not attend either, already with the excuse of the partisan war.
The former Secretary of State’s statement was initially scheduled for October 9, 2025 and was later moved to December 18. A subsequent summons set January 14, 2026 as the new date, but she did not appear then either.
The Clintons argued that the subpoenas were legally invalid and accused Comer of using them as part of what they described as a broader campaign of political retaliation aligned with President Trump.
But earlier this month, they not only accepted the statements we now expect, they argued that they should be made public. A script twist. This, they argued, would show viewers across the US that they had nothing to hide and minimize the politicization of their testimony by House Republicans.
In addition, it reinforces the work that his colleagues in the Democratic Party are carrying out both in Congress and with Epstein’s victims, in trying to show commitment to transparency. The statements come almost three decades after then-President Clinton gave a first video statement, for six hours, in the , where the young woman alleged that Clinton made unwanted sexual advances toward her in 1991, when he was governor.
During that sworn testimony in 1998, Clinton was questioned not only about Jones’ allegations but also about his relationship with White House intern, . He denied having a sexual relationship with her, a statement that later led to accusations of perjury and, ultimately, his impeachment by the House of Representatives.

What is being investigated?
In this case, the House Oversight Committee is specifically examining matters related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his network of associates, including his ex-partner, .
Epstein, an American financier, used his enormous wealth and high-profile social connections to orchestrate a decade-long sex trafficking ring involving dozens of underage girls.
In 2019, federal prosecutors charged Epstein with child sex trafficking, alleging that he had run a ring recruiting and abusing underage girls at his properties. He died in a Manhattan cell in August 2019, while awaiting trial; Authorities ruled his death a suicide.
So far there is no evidence of wrongdoing by Bill Clinton or Hillary Clinton in relation to Epstein. However, scrutiny intensified following the politician’s mention in a major series of unclassified court documents related to Epstein, published in early 2024.
Public attention was renewed again when additional records became known under federal transparency measures, prompting new political pressure and helping to set the stage for the current congressional investigation.
The House Oversight Committee says it is conducting a multifaceted investigation focused primarily on the activities of Epstein and Maxwell, rather than their friendships.
Specifically, the Committee is investigating the following areas, as stated on its website:
- The alleged mismanagement of the federal government’s investigation into Epstein and Maxwell, who is currently in jail, sentenced to 20 years in prison for supplying girls to her ex-partner.
- The circumstances and subsequent investigations of Epstein’s death while in federal custody.
- The operation of sex trafficking networks, with the goal of discovering ways for the federal government to effectively combat them.
- The ways in which Epstein and Maxwell sought to curry favor and exert influence to protect their illegal activities from scrutiny.
- Possible violations of ethical standards related to current and former elected officials.
Committee leaders say the information collected could inform possible legislative reforms, including stricter measures against sex trafficking, tougher ethical standards for public officials and changes in how non-prosecution or plea agreements are used in sex crime cases.

The connection with the former president…
Bill Clinton acknowledged that he met Epstein in the early 2000s. Flight logs and court documents show that the Democrat flew on Epstein’s private plane several times.
An analysis found that it appeared in flight logs at least 16 times between 2002 and 2003. The former president said the trips were related to his work for the Clinton Foundation. He claimed that he met Epstein through mutual acquaintances and maintained that their interactions were limited to those trips and related meetings.
In a 2019 statement following Epstein’s arrest, Clinton said she was not aware of Epstein’s criminal conduct at the time and had not spoken to him for years before his arrest.
Court documents revealed in 2024 referenced Clinton, but did not allege wrongdoing. Additional records released later included photographs showing Clinton with Epstein and Maxwell, as well as a swimming pool at one of Epstein’s residences.
…and the connection with the former Secretary of State
There is also no public evidence that Hillary Clinton had a direct relationship with Epstein or was involved in his activities.
According to a report by his name appears more than 700 times in Epstein’s files, and most are news articles about his 2016 presidential campaign that were shared with the financier. She has insisted that she never met Epstein.
He has also been asked about his relationship with Maxwell, primarily in the context of major events such as the Clinton Global Initiative. Clinton said in an interview with the BBC on February 17 that she met Maxwell “on a few occasions.”
Maxwell was also reported to have attended Chelsea Clinton’s wedding in 2010.
