João Fonseca will play an exhibition tournament with a million-dollar prize in Las Vegas

A week after winning the doubles final at the Rio Open, João Fonseca returns to the court this Sunday (1st), for the third edition of the MGM Slam. The event will be shown on sportv3 from 9pm (Brasília time).

The tournament does not distribute points for the ATP ranking, but offers 1 million dollars to the champion, approximately R$5.1 million.

At 19 years old, he will be the youngest among the eight participants. In the debut, ils, 39 years old, currently top 170.

The best ranked is the American Taylor Fritz, seventh in the world. Alexander Bublik, Tommy Paul, Reilly Opelka, Casper Ruud and Nick Kyrgios are also on the list.

In addition to the prizes, the event serves as an opportunity to gain pace in the game.

At the start of the 2026 season, Fonseca, today, abandoned two tournaments because of a lower back injury and is looking to continue before his next commitments.

MGM Slam

Held in Las Vegas, the MGM Slam takes place in just one day.

The competition has three elimination rounds, with four initial games that define the semifinalists and finalists. All matches will be decided in a 10-point tie-break.

Fonseca’s agenda

After the tournament, the Brazilian heads to the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells, starting on March 4, and Miami, the following week.

Depending on the results, he could still compete in the Phoenix Challenger, which he won in 2025.
