The Israel Defense Forces said it had eliminated seven high-ranking members of Iran’s military and security structure in the operation conducted in cooperation with the United States Armed Forces. The details were presented by the international spokesman for the Israeli forces, Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani, in a video released on X.
According to him, the offensive targeted “high-level meetings of senior figures in Iran’s military and security leadership”, based on what he classified as “an operational opportunity” to carry out coordinated attacks. “Today we launched Operation Roaring Lion, an operation against the Iranian terrorist regime in full cooperation with the United States Armed Forces. We listened carefully to your words, watched your actions and today we acted. We acted because we needed to act,” he declared.
According to material released by Israeli forces, those killed include Aziz Nasirzadeh, Iranian Defense Minister; Mohammad Shirazi, who headed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s military cabinet for almost 40 years; Ali Shamkhani, Khamenei’s adviser on Defense affairs and secretary of the Defense Council; Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps; Hossein Jebeli Ameli, appointed president of the Defense Research and Innovation Organization (SPND); Fereydoun Abbasi, former president of the same organization; and the intelligence chief of the Khatam al-Anbiya Command, the main operational headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces.

“These and other senior figures will no longer be able to advance their plan to destroy Israel,” Shoshani said. He classified the targets as “terrorists with blood on their hands, directly responsible for the deaths of thousands in acts of terror.”
According to him, the operation was preceded by “months of joint planning and close coordination with the United States Armed Forces”, representing “a historic and unprecedented level of cooperation between two nations fighting side by side against terror”.
The spokesperson added that the mission remains ongoing. “Our mission could not be clearer. The Israel Defense Forces will continue to act to remove emerging threats against Israel, because the price of inaction is too high,” he concluded.
