The United Kingdom reacted to an “alleged drone attack” that occurred at the country’s air base in Cyprus, following the Israeli-American attacks on Iran. Berlin, Paris and London declared themselves ready for “defensive actions” in the face of Iranian responses.
“Our armed forces are reacting to an alleged drone attack on the Royal Air Force base in Akrotiri, Cyprus, which occurred at midnight” (10pm in Lisbon), said a spokesperson for the British Ministry of Defense, regarding a “alleged drone attack”, which occurred at the UK air base in Cyprus.
“Our protection device in the region is at the highest level,” he added.
A base de Akrotiria British overseas territory since Cypriot independence in 1960, is the UK’s largest military base in the region.
London recently sent additional resources to this base, including anti-aircraft and anti-drone defense systems, radars and F-35 aircraft.
O UK agreed for US to use British military bases to attack Iranian missile sites, the prime minister announced, Keir Starmeron Sunday, stating that London would not participate in “offensive actions in Iran”.

Berlin, Paris and London prepare actions against Iranian attacks
German, French and British leaders declared themselves ready for “necessary and proportionate defensive action” in the face of Iranian responses in order to “destroy at source” Tehran’s military capabilities.
“We will take measures to defend our interests and those of our allies in the region”, potentially preventing the Islamic Republic from firing missiles and drones, warned the group E3which brings together France, Germany and the United Kingdom, in a joint statement.
Tehran responded to the American offensive and Israeli began on Saturday with attacks on all directions against several neighboring countriesnamely those that house American bases, and Israel, where nine people were killed on Sunday, according to emergency services.
European leaders say they are “appalled” by these “blind and disproportionate” attacks that affect Middle Eastern countries not involved in the initial military operation.
The attacks “targeted our close allies and threaten our military and civilian personnel throughout the region”, adds the statement, ensuring that these defensive measures will be discussed with the US and its allies in the region.
The United Kingdom announced that it has drawn up mass evacuation plans of its citizens who are imprisoned in the Persian Gulf countries due to the suspension of flights, according to official British sources.
Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon and Iraq under attack
A Saudi Arabia is one of the Gulf countries that have been the target of Iranian attacks since Saturday, in retaliation for the large-scale offensive that the USA and Israel have underway against the Islamic Republic.
A Ras Tanura oil refinery (one of the largest in the region), in Saudi Arabia, was target of a drone attackthis Monday. Authorities shot down approaching aircraft.
Kuwait declared that the country’s air defense today intercepted an undetermined number of drones targeting the country, but with no injuries reported, according to the official news agency of the oil-rich Gulf emirate.
Also on Monday morning the Kuwaiti air defense intercepted “a number of hostile aerial targets“, according to the director general of civil defense at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, Mohammed Almansouricited by the Kuna agency.
Furthermore, a thick black column of smoke rose from the US embassy in Kuwait, reported the agency France-Presse (AFP) in this Gulf emirate.
“Do not come to the embassy”, asked the US diplomatic representation in a statement, referring to a “persistent threat of missile and drone attacks” and specifying that embassy staff are “confined on site”. Before that, sirens sounded in the capital of Kuwait.
O Iran sets “no limits” to its right to defend itselfsaid Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in an interview with the American television network ABC.
“What the United States is doing is an act of aggression. What we are doing is defending ourselves. It’s very different,” he insisted.
In Lebanon, at least 31 people died and another 149 were injured due to Israeli bombings on the outskirts of Beirut and southern Lebanon, in response to an attack by the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah in northern Israel.
One Iraqi Shiite militia claimed responsibility for a drone attack on US troops at the airport in the Iraqi capital, Baghdadin a further expansion of retaliation for the death of Iran’s supreme leader.
This Sunday, there was clashes between protesters and police in front of US embassyem Baghdade.
The trigger of the conflict
Israel and the United States launched a military attack against Iran on Saturday, to “eliminate imminent threats from the Iranian regime”, and Tehran responded with missiles and drones against US bases in the region and Israeli targets.
The American president, Donald Trumpsaid that the operation aims to “eliminate imminent threats” from Iran and the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahujustifies joint action against what he classified as an “existential threat”.
O Iran has already confirmed the death of ‘ayatollah’ Ali Khameneithe country’s supreme leader since 1989 and decreed a 40-day mourning period.
According to the Iranian Red Cross, at least 200 deaths and around 750 injuries were recorded.
