Iran’s President Massoud Pezeshkiyan quickly changes the leadership of the army after a deadly attack by the US and Israel. He sends the general of the Revolutionary Guards to a key position.
On Monday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkiyan appointed Majid Ebnelreza, a general of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), as the Minister of Defense. His predecessor, Aziz Nasirzade, was killed during Saturday’s American-Israeli attack, TASR writes, according to an AFP report.
“On the order of President Massoud Pezeshkiyan, General Majid Ebnelrezá of the Revolutionary Guards was appointed acting Minister of Defense,” wrote the Iranian representative for presidential communications on the X social network.
Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh and IRGC Commander General Mohammad Pakpur died during Saturday’s attacks by the United States and Israel. On the same day, several representatives of the Iranian regime and the army, including the supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, were the targets of the attacks.
