Vídeo mostra tamanduá-mirim caminhando no teto de unidade de saúde do interior do Acre

A video sent to the newsroom shows a little anteater on the roof of the courtyard of the Basic Health Unit in the Eugênio Areal neighborhood, in , on Sunday night (1st). The presence of the animal caught the attention of residents passing by.

The images were recorded by radio host Josué da Silva. According to him, the anteater crossed the road before climbing onto the structure of the health unit, where it remained for a few minutes. The situation generated curiosity among people who followed the animal’s movement.

So far, there is no information whether the anteater left the area on its own or whether it was necessary to call a Fire Department team to carry out the rescue.

The lesser anteater is a wild mammal found in several regions of South America, including the Amazon. Medium-sized, smaller than the giant anteater, it has long and strong claws, used to open anthills and termite mounds, as its diet is mainly based on ants and termites. Although it is not considered aggressive, it can react if it feels threatened.

The appearance of wild animals in urban areas may be related to the search for food or the reduction of their natural habitat. Experts advise that, when faced with this type of situation, the population avoids approaching it and contacts the competent bodies to ensure the safety of the animal and people.
