The Russian state atomic energy corporation Rosatom has stopped construction work on the new blocks of the Iranian nuclear power plant in the port city of Bushehr. According to the Reuters agency, the head of the company, Alexej Lichačov, informed about this. which clarified that this was a consequence of the Israeli-American attacks on Iran, writes TASR.
Work was stopped at the construction sites of the second and third blocks of the power plant, specified Lichačov. He added that the further development of events cannot be predicted due to the ongoing military operations against Iran. However, the Russian specialists will remain in place, because “this power plant will continue to be one of our priorities,” declared Lichačov.
He informed that telephone or electronic communication with the leadership of the Iranian nuclear industry is currently not possible. However, contact with colleagues directly on the construction site was maintained. Lichačov stated, that approximately 639 Russian experts remain in Iran. Some of those who were already in Tehran are leaving the country. On Saturday, February 28, when the US-Israeli attacks on Iran began, Iran was evacuated almost 100 Russian experts and their families. Evacuation of others is expected to continue during breaks between US and Israeli airstrikes.
