Lebanon accused Israel of carrying out “brutal attacks” against Lebanese territory, despite the ceasefire reached this Friday, the 19th, to end hostilities in the region. In a post on X this Saturday, 20, the Lebanese army claims that the continuation of violence “aims to obstruct any solution that allows the restoration of stability” in Beirut.
According to the publication, Israel’s attacks hit areas in the south of the country and caused “more martyrs and injuries, causing major destruction to properties”. At least seven people, including two children, died in the offensives, and according to Lebanese state media (NNA), another seven people remain trapped under the rubble.
Lebanese forces also mention an Israeli attack on the Kfar Remane – Nabatieh road, which killed a soldier.
According to an Israeli military official, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon after the group fired more than 50 projectiles at Israeli soldiers in the region. For the source, stability between Israel and Lebanon will be possible if Hezbollah stops violating the ceasefire.
In response, a senior Hezbollah official said the Shi’ite group will not allow Israel “freedom of action” in what it described as “occupied Lebanese territory” and that it will not allow Tel-Aviv to operate freely in Lebanon, in an interview with Reuters.
