David Jaffe, creator of God of War, criticized the first image released by Prime Video of the TV series inspired by video games. On his YouTube channel, the designer classified the image as “terrible” and “bad in many ways”

A The image in question was revealed by Prime Video last Friday (27) and features actors Ryan Hurst and Callum Vinson as Kratos and his son, Atreus. According to Jaffe, he didn’t like the hero’s pose in the image released.

“His expression is idiotic,” he said. “If you’re going to reveal a character that’s new to most people, and you hope he’s going to carry the series forward, will you do the reveal this way?”

The creator speculated that perhaps the choice of image was made purposefully, and that the series may prefer to focus more on the story and the relationship between father and son. Even so, he believes that the visual aspects did not favor the characters.

“Okay, but at this point, could you guys find a picture where Kratos doesn’t look like he’s taking a shit in the forest? Because that’s what appears to be happening.”

Even though I didn’t like the choice, Jaffe demonstrated confidence in the project. “I’m sure everyone is trying really hard, but this is so stupid,” he continued.

“Let’s be honest, two things can be true. This could be a terrible picture, and it is. And Ron Moore, who is the showrunner, is wonderful. I have no doubt that the series is going to be very good.”

A The God of War live-action series does not yet have a release date. In the plot, inspired by the most recent games, Kratos leaves Ancient Greece and settles in a region dominated by Norse mythology, and needs to deal with his violent past while trying to raise his son. The cast also includes Teresa Palmer, Ed Skrein and Mandy Patinkin.
