Every five years, Statistics Austria measures the consumption behavior of the 4.2 million households in Austria in detail; this was most recently the case with the 2024/25 consumption survey. The aim is “a complete and detailed recording of private household spending,” explains General Director Manuela Lenk. According to this, an average of 2.17 people live together in a household in this country and spend a total of 4,170 euros per month.
