Michael Phillips says his penis is about the size of a fingernail when erect
Michael Phillips announced that his penis is 0.97 centimeters when erect and challenged other men to say whether they have a smaller one. The American says he wants to combat the stigma surrounding the micropenis.
A 38-year-old North Carolina man publicly claimed to have the smallest penis in the worldchallenging anyone to deny his statement, as part of a campaign to combat stigma and raise awareness about the medical condition known as micropenis.
Michael Phillips made the claim during a 10-minute interview published Friday on TMZ’s YouTube channel. In the interview, he said that his penis measures 0.97 cm when it is fully erect, using the width of his little fingernail to illustrate the size. When flaccid, is “less than that”.
Having a micropenis is considered rare, affecting around 0.6% of the world’s population. Phillips said that received formal diagnosis in 2025 and agreed to speak publicly to highlight that micropenis is a legitimate medical condition, and not just a derogatory term used on the internet.
“There have been several occasions where I found myself in a position where I could have sex that led to me wanting to see if there was anything I could do to increase size,” he says.
Although doctors confirmed the diagnosis, the treatment options offered were limited, stating that only minor interventions were possible. “It’s not just slang that people use online,” he said, highlighting that the condition can have significant emotional and psychological impacts.
In addition to intimacy challenges, Phillips said daily life can also be affected, including practical difficulties when using the bathroom because “it leaks everywhere”.
Phillips claims he has come to terms with the fact that penetrative sex may not be possible for him and instead focuses on other forms of intimacy in his relationships, having until recently been in a long-distance relationship.
Regarding having the smallest penis in the world, Phillips says he contacted Guinness World Records, but confirmed that the organization does not keep records related to human sexual organs.
Phillips said his own online research led him to believe his measurement may be the smallest in the world. “I invite anyone to try to surpass me“, launched the challenge.
