PM arrests man who threatened to set fire to car with 2-year-old daughter inside

Identified as Welke Max de Jesus de Oliveira, the suspect was charged with kidnapping, threat and attempted murder; child suffered minor injuries and was returned to his mother

The Military Police of the State of São Paulo arrested red-handed on Monday (2) the man identified as Welke Max de Jesus de Oliveira, aged 34, after he threatened to set fire to a car with his two-year-old daughter inside. The man was arrested on a dirt road that connects the cities of Hortolândia and Sumaré, in the interior of the state.

After receiving audio from the man, the The girl’s mother sought out a police base to report that the ex-husband threatened to set fire to the car with her daughter inside if she didn’t meet him. Police officers moved to an approximate location reported by the woman.

Upon noticing the approach of vehicles, the man tried to escape, but lost control of the steering wheel and overturned the car.

After removing the child and father from the car, the police discovered that both were soaked in ethanol. According to the corporation, Welke de Oliveira spilled the fuel on them during the escape.

The girl was taken to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA), in Hortolândia. She had minor injuries and was handed over to his mother.

Welke de Oliveira was taken to the Sumaré Police Station. He was charged with kidnapping, threat and attempted murder.
