SP subway extends 24-hour operation on the weekend – 03/03/2026 – Panel

The one in São Paulo decided to extend it for six months. The experimental operation began in December, with a period of three months.

The decision to extend it was taken, according to the company, after carrying out a survey that showed 95% approval of the measure by passengers.

Metrô states that the expansion “will allow the monitoring of demand indicators in different scenarios, including weekends outside the school holiday period, dates with a greater concentration of major events and busier times in the city”.

The company says that in this initial period around 140 thousand passengers were transported in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday.

The survey also showed that most early morning passengers used the Metro for leisure, followed by work trips.

During the early hours of Saturday to Sunday, all stations on the four lines remain open for boarding and disembarking, with trains running between 0 am and 4:40 am and average intervals between 20 and 30 minutes.
